Louis Legacy: Spay/Neuter

In March 2016 Estelle Maxwell fostered and then adopted a little traumatised foxy looking mongrel called Louis Braveheart.

Louis was just a puppy when he was rescued from the streets of Serbia. He was found by a local lady with his bottom jaw snapped in half, unable to drink or eat he was starving to death.

A group of kind ladies from the UK sent the funds over for him to have emergency surgery so that the bottom half of his jaw was removed because it had necrotised. He also had anaplasmosis and his red fur was blonde he was so anaemic. He had distemper from which he recovered which left him with a permanent tick plus rickets from his poor diet.

He was the inspiration and the muse for the launch of Sretna Sapa the rescue group in Bosnia which is a registered not for profit organisation headed by Renata Josic.

It has saved and rehabilitated more than 2000 Dogs like Louis in the last 8 years, rehoming them in the UK with the help of partner groups. Its umbrella group focuses on focuses on low cost Spay Neuter and Release of street dogs that have been left to die in the public shelter after being caught by the dog catchers employed by the municipal authority to clear the canton of Tuzla of stray dogs.

Louis Legacy Spay Neuter and Release

It also offers low cost spay to local owners to prevent unwanted births.Since 2021 since it began, we have prevented the birth of more than 2.6million puppies and sterilised 476 dogs. This scheme was named after Louis following his death at Christmas time in 2022 aged just 6 1/2.The transition from this terrified little dog into a confident happy playmate for Ralphie, Estelle’s border terrier, was nothing short than magical.Because of Louis and his legacy many lives have been transformed. It costs just £35 to sterilise a street dog half the normal price of £70.You can donate, however much you can afford towards this desperately needed scheme.
